I saw review after review for New Years in Reno saying this was the hottest party in town... it wasn't. While the DJ was good, I have seen weddings with bigger dance floors. The free drinks from the well were pretty terrible too. I couldn't even get a Manhattan for my drink ticket because they had no bourbon in the well. To be fair, you could pay more and get more variety, but I expect to be able to have at least one version of all the basic alcohol in any well.
The guests in attendance also very much resembled a wedding. It was a sort of bimodal distribution between people in their mid-20s to early 30s and people over 50, with more of the older crowd than the younger.
The reviews I read also indicated that you could see the fireworks through a glass dome, but that was completely untrue; we had to go outside to see them just like everyone else. Then by the time the fireworks were done, the party was over. Who has heard of a New Year's party that ends at 1pm?
If the party had only cost $15 instead of $30 it might have been worth it with the free drink, but I absolutely will not be back next year.
