The poignancy of the spontaneous Christmas truce that happened between German and allied troops is combined with the unparalleled artistry of Cantus, and the result is a new Christmas classic. "All is Calm" is a combination of period songs and carols sung by Cantus and the words of people who were there presented by Theatre Latte Da actors. The truce is not so much acted out as suggested by both singers and actors, and yet you feel all the emotion of being there on the battlefield, where there were a few moments of peace of earth. Beautiful, moving, and full of Christmas spirit.

Loved everything about it. The music and voices were wonderful, the simple set was very effective for providing a feel for the actual location. Would definitely recommend.

As part of our annual "reunion," us four retirees attended All Is Calm. It was our best reunion ever. I purchased the Cantus CD and have been reliving the performance. This is a great addition to my other Cantus CD collection.
And we loved the length of the performance.

It was everything I expected and more. Cantus is exceptional and their harmony and talent lived up to their reputation. The story was very well presented and the music was a great complement. I was surprised to find familiarity with many of the songs. Each spoken line was a quote from diaries of WWI and that very special night of the 1914 Christmas Truce. This lended authenticity to the play. I will be recommending it to several people next season. It was a wonderful evening.

We enjoyed "All is Calm" even more the second time. We had seen if a few years ago and felt it was time to revisit. The musical performances are excellent, the personal stories really bring out the message and the overall effect is very moving.

Peter Rothstein's depiction of this historic phenomena is absolutely brilliant.
Cantus is a world class ensemble and the simple narratives surrounded by song tell the tale in a touching and powerful way
This is a story of hope and the power of humanity that brought us full into the spirit of Christmas and left not a dry eye
We will return next year with my son and fiance
This should go on tour, especially to London and Germany

What a wonderful way to spend an evening during the Christmas season! Cantus' voices were a wonderful blend to support the message and tell the story of such a meaningful event during WW I. The actors did a great job as well. We sat near the back of the balcony and could see and hear everything as if we were sitting near the front. I would love to keep this event as part of our Christmas celebration each year. It is very touching! We plan to take other members of our family to see it next Christmas.

The singers are excellent and the story is one of the greatest Christmas stories ever. However, we walked away expecting more. It was very short, and other than the above, not much more for the money. Obviously, extremely low budget and minimal preparation needed, it was overpriced for what it delivered. I think with the talented cast, the amazing story, and the beautiful Pantages setting, it could have been much better and more emotional considering the story and Christmas spirit.

I was expecting a play with music--that's not what it is, but it's so much more. Cantus sings beautifully and the readings were appropriate. It was almost like a choral mass. Our whole family loved it and we look forward to going again next year.

The incredible voices of Cantus combined with letters, headlines, and diaries of soldiers in the trenches make Theater Latte Da's annual performance of "All is Calm" the ultimate Christmas experience. Christmas Eve 1914 in the trenches becomes a Christmas miracle when the troops create their own "Cease Fire." This production never fails to impress on all levels -- a must see!

We go every year as our Christmas tradition. It is a real emotional experience -- I choke up early in the show and cannot help weeping through most of it. It is beautiful -- marvously staged, wonderful singing, I cry because of the beauty, and I cry because the story is so moving.
My father served in the trenches in the first World War, so I have a personnel attachment to the story. But I think anyone would be deeply moved by the experience. I hope Latte Da and Cantus continue to do this every year.
