Was very disapointing. The costumes were drab, especially for the furies. The women (Katharina Goeldner) who sang as Orfeo was boring, no emothion. She could have been singing about cooking soup. If I could get my money back I would.

This is the first time I took my children ages 6 & 13 to opera. They loved the experience. The sets were the best, the music amazing and the singing, WOW! My son was so impressed he asked to go back next season! It was a wonderful performance and I am looking forward to seeing what next season brings!

since we had not seen for many years, we looked at a dvd of an english productton. After seeing the Tucson production we found it better, more tasteful and less infantile. The singing, the orchestra, the dances, the scenery were all appropriate and eccellent. A wonderful opera evening. We are new to Tucson. The local company is not the Mets. There are many less people on the scene, but still the production is elegant. We suscribed for the next year

Opera was dull, music forgettable. BUT, sets were great and costumes too. And singing was really good....voices beautifully trained. Orchestra was great.
Poor decision of putting a woman in the role of Orfeo. During duets, couldn't tell one voice from another. Mezzo - soprano isn't a substitute for a tenor.

I found this production so disappointing. I took my daughter to her first opera this evening in hopes of exposing her to the wonderful world of opera and was so sad that this was what she wound up seeing. The main issue was the lack of a male lead. I appreciate if there was a possible gay scenario trying to be relayed to the audience, and if that was not the intent, it sure came across that way. BUT, to have both women singing in the same register made it impossible to tell who was singing when both were on the stage and both were singing. I fell asleep after the first act because I had had it at that point, but stayed in case my daughter was finding something to enjoy. The best part of this evening for me was when the young man proposed marriage to his love and she accepted. That was the most audience interaction I felt during this evening. I have been to other phenomenal productions of the Tucson Opera but I question whether to go back again. Sorry but this was awful and my daughter doesn't care to try going to an opera again.

The music was great from start to finish....
Only comment, the orchestra at times drowned out Orfeo.
the sets were great, expecially the back ground ..... they conveyed place and mood tvery well.

I saw Orfeo de Euridice for the first time and it was my first opera. I was thoroughly impressed. I don't know a lot about opera, but the story was beautiful . To hear the strength in these beautiful voices is almost unbelievable. Almost hard to believe I was very happy to have chosen this opera for my first. It had singing and dancing. True love will prevail is the basis of this beautiful opera. It was lovely. It won't be my last!! I am now an opera fan Thank you to the lovely ladies who performed Ordeo and Euredice They were terrific!! Bravo!!!!

Positives: great sets, Euridice, happy ending
Negatives: blah direction, blah opera, very low energy, Orfeo-plus minus
I usually love the AZ Opera, but not this time.

The voices and orchestra in the opera Orfeo & Euridice were excellent. The sets were simple, but tasteful and charming. The audience gave the company a standing ovation. I've seen other AO performances, and they never disappoint.

The Orpheo was amazing and delightfully charismatic. The set made me lean forward to get better glimpses. The set almost stole the show from Orpheo.

Bad call to have a female play male lead in a story of profound love between husband and wife. The relationship never worked. It was weird and silly. Costumes and set, although nice to look at, did not support the story. It felt like a weird disconnected dream.
Is the talent pool of males so slim that we could not have filled a male role with a male voice? Even a mediocre male voice would have worked better. The advertising artwork was stunning and what got my attention. How did we get from there to a weird Victorian-like bad dream? I had been considering season tickets after Aieda. Will not be doing so. Sad way to end the season.

The overall performance was amazing! The choir was wonderful, the dancing was beautiful, and the soloists were perfect! The mezzo-soprano wasn't too throaty, and you could hear her. My only issue is the end duet between the soprano and the mezzo, the soprano completely downed out the mezzo. Albeit, she was amazing, but I would have loved to hear that harmony. Amazing performance!
