Vampire Weekend was so amazing at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz! Yes, I have heard that the show was really short, but that is just because their songs are short. Their first cd is less than 40 minutes long. I really loved their show and they played every song I wanted to hear. They had great energy and I loved how they talked to the crowd! It was exciting to get a shout out to Santa Cruz since The Lost Boys helped inspire their name.

Favorite moment: When the lead singer Ezra, was talking about forming a band so he could someday come play in the town where The Lost Boys was filmed! @
Setlist: Mansard Roof, Walcott, I Stand Corrected, One, M79, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, A-Punk, Oxford Comma, Cousins, Horchata, California English,Holiday, White Sky @
Opening act(s): Pocahaunted. The worst opening band I've seen in over 100 live shows. Weird and not in a good way! @

This band is absolutely awesome live. They sound impeccable! They also have a happy vibe that I love. Everything about them was great. I just so happened to be in the worst possible place in the crowed though, cuz a mosh pit broke out on top of me, I think it was during A-Punk. I don't go to metal shows for a reason!! It's one thing if your at a show where people fully know that this might happen and would even like to participate, but at Vampire Weekend it's fricken ridiculous! So if you see an even sorta upbeat band in Santa Cruz and don't want to get crushed, stand further back or sit in a balcony.

Favorite moment: I couldn't help but jump up and down as they started to play A-Punk. It was wild, I was excited. Everyone was excited. @
Setlist: They started out dancing with one of their new songs,"White Sky" followed by all a mix of the old and new songs. The only song they did not play from the first album was "The Kids Don't Stand A Chance" Which made alot of sense because everyone was dancing and that song would have mellowed everyone out. @

To begin with,
This was the greatest show I've been to in my whole life. Vampire Weekend is now officially my favorite band. I was a little bit anxious to hear the songs from their new album because I was afraid of being disappointed. However, Vampire Weekend did not let me down. What also surprised me was that the two songs I usually don't listen to from the old album, sounded really-really sensational live. By the end of the show they had everyone dancing (even in the upstairs VIP area). I plan on going to see them again before they finish up this California tour. It is that much worth it. Honestly, this group is amazing live. A funny thing that caught my eye was that Rostam looked so bored while he played the keyboard. But, what the heck was up with the opening band?
