Glen Hansard delivered the goods at the HOB. The Swell Season is really his old band The Frames with Marketa Irglova added to the line-up. Hansard is a great Irish showman, bantering with the crowd, telling stories and most importantly playing a mean acoustic guitar. The evening featured JJ Cale and Van Morrison covers, a couple or three Irish ballads and some songs from the "Once" soundtrack, but don't be mistaken the show is far more rollicking than the Once soundtrack would lead you to belive. I returned home looking for Clancy Brothers and Frames songs on I-tunes. You've got to like a guy who learns two New Olreans songs just for the show. Best show I've been to in a long time.

Passionate. Grateful. Funny. And oozing talent out of every pore. The Swell Season was amazing and earned every one of the 5 stars above. If you loved "Once" you will be blown away by the real thing. Don't miss them!

The Swell Season was so passionate and intense! I was captivated the entire concert. I have been to nearly 100 concerts and this concert was the best by far. Glen, Marketa, and the Frames are true artists and I feel so blessed to have seen them!

The show was amazing! The Swell Season is the first band I have had the impulse of seeing live. They are what I called real musicians. Glen and Mar make a great team and you can feel their music. If you have a chance to see them live, you should not miss the chance. I loved the fact that they actually sound like their cds and you can see that they love what they're doing. I also loved the violin solo. You should also make sure to hear The Frames previous albums, I almost have all of them and I love them!

Being backed by The Frames made this concert an unforgettable experience. I normally don't enjoy audience sing-alongs, but Glen appeared to get a big kick out of the Dallas crowd, which was so enthusiastic and respectful of the band. The covers were great too.

The Swell Season show in Houston was fantastic. If you have seen the move Once, you know that the touching story and the incredible music made for a great film. The concert experience is one of the best I have ever seen. Glen has a GREAT rapport with the audience, especially in small venues. At one point, he unplugged his guitar and sang without a microphone and blew the audience away. Show involves a lot of audience interaction via singing so warm up the pipes before you come. If you are really good, you might get called on stage to sing with the band! It happened at our show.

The Swell Season was AMAZING live! They showcased the talents of both Glen and Marketa very well, and Glen is so soulful in his performances. They played for over two hours, doing a 30 minute, 3-song set for the encore. These are two incredibly talented people, strongly backed by The Frames. By far, the best concert I have ever been to.

Words can not even describe how amazing this show was! I left wanting to hear more. I could've stayed there all night and listened to the beautiful music. Marketa's voice is like an angel, Glen's energy and voice was incredible, and the Frames band members brought so much beauty to the music! When I got home I searched for the next closest venue to see if I could go see them again before the tour is over! Traveling a few hours is definitely worth the trip!

I could put them in my pocket and take them out to play for me every day. This was the most incredible concert I've seen in the past 15 years of going to shows. I can't say enough. I thought the movie Once was good, go see them in person. Youtube does them no justice live. It's not enough that they're incredibly talented and have amazing stage presence, they also make the audience a large part of the show by talking with us and even teaching us parts of songs to sing with them! That night they pulled an unsuspecting audience member (Moji) onstage to sing a brand new song and she was great! I can't say enough about this event, even my friends are making me shut up about it. There is nothing else in the world like this.

there was no way i could have been prepared for this one! i couldn't WAIT to see these guys live-- but the actual concert blew my mind. also-- the venue was perfect for their show. i loved every minute-- every single minute, and never wanted it to come to an end. THANK YOU for bringing them to NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!!

My husband and I both really enjoyed this concert. We saw Swell Season a couple years ago in Austin right after the movie had come out. That was probably more exciting because we felt like we were in on a great secret that was about to hit big time. ...but this concert was cool also because of the Oscar moment they both had. All in all, it was pretty cool!

This was my first concert at the Paladium and was suprised to see that it could handle so many people effectively. The warm up act (Rachel) was fun and she has a cool sound. Glen Hansard is extremely talented and put on an amazing performance showing tremendous respect for his craft through careful professionalism. I love what he has done bringing the Frames on tour.
