Patrick Watson themselves were excellent. Despite (and perhaps because of) Patrick himself drinking a full glass of bourbon throughout the performance, the band had a stage presence that was extremely engaging. The openers, though, were a bit weak. There were several moments when I found myself bored. The first group, Arc Iris, certainly deserved higher billing than the second, whose name I didn't care to remember.

Rarely does a group of artists emerge with such insightful perspective. Patrick Watson's live show is a beautiful balance of subtlety, harmony, and power not easily detected on their recording. His sense of humor and graciousness are evident as he interacts with the crowd. This adventure was definitely worth the trip from DC. Take the opportunity to see this band when they visit your city ~ you'll thank yourself in the morning!

Patrick Watson gave a well run show--experimental, lush, emotional. He's a quirky guy with a great voice. He and Angell came out into the audience for an a capella number that ended with them and the full band back on stage, lights and music soaring--Great! The rest of the band are all pros, and were obviously having a good time performing together.
