I thought a 4 hour show would be daunting, especially since I was really only there to see Jenny. I'd listened to some Aunt Martha before the show and was excited to see them however.
Gregory and the Hawk was really great. She was super cute, had a really great voice. Simple pretty songs.
Aunt Martha blew me away, every song was fully of energy, the crowd was loving them. Lyrics, the lead's voice, and the diversity of the material was just brilliant. I'm definitely a fan of their's now. Their stuff is catchy and well written.
I love Jenny to death, and think she's amazing, but I was up in the very front and had to move to the back after she opened. Her amp or speakers or something was hot. Everything was loud. I couldn't hear her voice, only the guitar and annoying noises coming from the speakers. Also, she definitely decided to be a rock girl that night. She only played electric guitar. Part of what I like about her is that she does so many different things. I like a lot of her beautiful slow songs. She didn't play any of those. She didn't focus on her vocals, mainly belting or screaming out lyrics... which led to a certain kind of show. A rock show. Which is cool I guess but I felt like I was missing something.
