One word for "In the Heights" - energy. Heart felt songs with a Latin beat. Great staging. Usnavi (named for a ship) is THE man. This is the kind of musical they made in the '50s, yet it's got the soul and sound of today. You will love "In the Heights."

Featured Review

In the Heights was a great story about the Latin community and struggles that ethnic groups go through as they strive for the American Dream. The music was fabulous; the words were so meaningful. The dancing was awesome! The actors were cast appropriately; their characters were very believable.

An outstanding performance, the cast was energetic, singing was great and choreography was awesome! A little something for all music lovers-hip hop, salsa, merengue, traditional dance, You'll never get bored although the show is 2 hrs in length because something is always moving to keep your interest.

I went with 4 other girls to this play. No one had heard of it before, but it had great reviews so we thought we would try it. Thank goodness they were spot on. Great story line and the energy was simply contagious... our whole group wants to learn how to salsa now. I would highly recommend it.

You have to see this show. I'm not one to cry easily and one of the songs did it to me. The storyline is great, the music makes you want to dance and the stories of each character finding themselves in NY, feeling their roots from other ethinicities but living in America or dreaming of moving somewhere else really resonante with today's America. Amazing!!!

The musical is not as high budget and "professional" as Billy Elliiot was definitely worth seeing. Very entertaining. Good music, good dancing., and a sweet story.

I very much enjoyed the show. This was my daughter's second time seeing the show (saw it on Broadway) and she enjoyed it also, although she said the Broadway cast had more energy. I really enjoyed the music and dancing. However, I was surprised when 2 of the lead characters were replaced/understudied after the first act. I've seen the announcement at the beginning of the show, but never in mid-stream. That was odd. Overall, it was a very good show.

I took my my husband to see In The Heights as his birthday surprise, and we were blown away by the cast and their performances. To me, it felt like I was part of the show. I smiled, laughed, tapped my feet along with the songs and cried several times during certain scenes. I felt the pain that Nina's parents displayed of the sacrifices and choices they had to make for their daughter. I laughed along with the beauty parlor scenes. Everything about the play bought me back to my time growing up in Queens, NY during the 80's and 90's and understanding the bond of your family and community (things which are missing today in communities). I was able to reconnect to some of my own memories.

Thank you for such an awesome play.
If it makes it to Miami, I plan on attending.

Great job to the cast and musical director as well.

This show really was a let down. If you're not a native Spanish speaker, chances are you won't understand 50% of the show (I am fluent in Spanish and still had trouble understanding the Spanglish songs). The plot was unbelieveably weak and uninventive. My dad and I were falling asleep. Wouldn't recommend...

i thought that the music overpowered the singers, It was sometimes difficult to hear or understand the words of the song. The dancing was excellent. It was also difficult to follow Usnavy's rap.

We had no idea what to expect and absolutely loved this show. My husband and I brought our two twenty-something daughters and we were all mesmerized and enchanted. The singing, the dancing and the acting made us forget the outside world and enter into Washington Heights. Thank you to the whole cast for this show!!!!
