The show was absolutely one of the best shows that I have ever watched. The singing was superb! The storyline is wonderful, and the actors made it real. Would love to see it again.

The show was remarkable!! The acting and singing was extraordinary!! I loved every minute of it, and the actress that played Celie was astounding!!

I've seen the movie and skimmed through the book, so I had background knowledge about the play, but the production made me feel like I've never seen it before! I laughed, I cried, and the cast got a standing ovation at the end. It was worth the time and the money!

I was amazed with the singing and performance talent of all the cast members, especially the young lady who played Celie. In addition, the performers truly captured the essence of the life struggles of Celie, Sophia, and Nettie, and the choreography was stunning.

the show was excellent I was very impressed with the cast and the music was phonenimal, I would see it hundred more more times. I have seen several events at this particular venue , and I think would have been the best one yet, please come back soon, i would see it again without any hestitation.. thanks for allowing the norfolk public schools to have a sponsored evening , and with the discount on the tickets it was an exceollent value, again thanks for the wonderful evening i was vey excited that it was everything i hoiped it would be and more!!!!!!.

the show was good, but it was hard to understand and hear the speaking parts. The orchestra was excellent. The show would have been better if the speaking parts had better clarity. The stage effects and background was beautiful.

i thought it was a great show. although, it was missing a few songs that i really wanted to hear. but overall, i enjoyed it and would highly recommned it to a friend. the cast did a wonderful job in song, dance and comedy. it touch every emotion.

A very good performance. The key points were made. Very Tasteful. The cast outfits was on point. Very strong Vocals. My husband and I was very impressed. We did enjoy the performance.

Unbelieveable! I enjoyed every moment of this play. I only wish I had the chance to see it on Broadway, but nonetheless, I am happy with viewing it at The Chrysler Hall. Would gladly see it again.

I was a little disappointed when I saw the play. The Color Purple movie is my one and only favorite movie and I can watch it over and over but I was disappointed with the play. I was really looking forward to hearing some of the songs from the movie but there were none at all. The singing was great but I was really looking forward to the church scene "God is trying to tell you something" and I never got it.

Loved the play! The big singing voices were marvelous but the noise level was too high. Interestingly there were no upcoming productions advertised in the program other than those featuring primarily African-Americans. Who says that African-Americans are only interested in productions that are centered on their race? Shouldn't there be more diversity in advertising future shows? I will go to all of them!!!

This play was excellent. Having seen the movie I was curious to know if the play would touch on all the key points and it really did. The story was delivered with such passion and the musical interpretations were just oustanding.

It wasn't what I expected; I thought that it was going to be better than that. I was disappointed that shug avery didn't sing "Sister", and "Gods trying to tell you something". Overall it wasn't good, being that it was an oprah winfrey production.

This was an uplifting play that celebrated love and triumph mixed with perserverance. The singing was amazing. Each player was into his or her character! The scenery and artistry was just as dynamic! Just Beautiful!
