The show was very amateurish. It was a student production. It was nice and they did a good job for their experience, but I was expecting a lot more and they just seemed to do the same dances over and over.

The dancing was beautiful and it was a very smooth performance. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a live orchestra.

I was expecting more dancers than that of the Miami City Ballet, however this was a small russian company. For this particular ballet, The Nutcracker, I think some of the dances are better off with more dancers, like the Waltz of the flowers. This ballet does not include a whole lot of classical ballet in the first act. The first act really just introduced the story. The second act, however, really gets into the grind of it, and the dances here were very good. The main four russian dancers, the prima ballerina and three others male dancers were in my opinion exceptional. They really complemented each other well, were graceful and flawless. When the four of them were on the stage, toward the end of the show, they performed a rather long number that gave me the chills. The audience clapped for a long time after that nubmer. The spanish dance with the younger, blonde russian dancer was also very good, the pas de trois was lovely and I really lilke the older russian dancer as well.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone, with the disclaimer, that it is in many ways a children's ballet, so be prepared to see many kids on the stage as well.

Sets were beautiful. Costumes were fantastic. Unfortunately, the dancers displayed a low level of talent. The female dancers performed few jumps and essentially filled the time repeating the same steps over and over. The men were more impressive individually but were unable to perform the lifts without obvious struggle. The children were used more than the previous years I have seen this show which was fine except that I soon understood why: the talent of the adult dancers was only slightly above theirs. I wondered if they practiced with the same music as they were rarely syncronized with the orchestra or even with one another, for that matter. I had come to expect so much more and I was disappointed in this year's performance.

I have seen the Miami City Ballet's company performance and was very excited to see the Russian Ballet doing The Nutcracker; however, I was disappointed. The scenario seemed empty with few dancers than the ones in the Miami City Ballet's performance. As a matter of fact, the dance with the snow was composed of only 4 to 6 dancers and even my grandson said the dancers felt "lonely" up there. And some of the dancers were not as good as the ones I have seen before performing this ballet. Next year, I'm back to watching the Miami City Ballet at the Arsht Center.

Disappointed with this event in that the scenery was forgettable, some of the costumes/wigs were shoddy and looked moth-eaten. Also, there were numerous, glaring mistakes by some of the dancers in the troupe. This was my granddaughters first Nutcracker and now I am afraid I will never get her back to another one. I should have gotten tickets to the Balanchine production. I thought the Russian production would be much more professional.

I invite my family to go to the ballet, and this show was totatly unprofesional, its not acceptable. We called and asked if this was the profesional ballet at ticketmaster and they said Yes Well after an hour we got up and left, this was like an a school performance. We are disappointed and deseived. It was a special ocassion for us, and te result was awful.

The show was amazing! The costumes, the dancers, everything. I would definitely recommend this to people in the future. The only stipulation I would put on this show is the children that attend. I know children will attend, but there should be limits on age of children that attend. For the first half of the performance, there was a child under the age of 5 behind me that did nothing but talk,and her mother never made her be quiet or talk quietly until an usher came and made her, and it ruined the that part of the performance for me and my fiance. Other than that, everything was fantastic.

The nutcracker was absolutely amazing. My 5 year old daughter was at theedge of her seat the entire performance. Great job to all the performers!!!!!!!!!!!

Being a male, telling people I am going to the ballet is not always well received, but I was taking my family of girls, so I prepared myself to sit through 2 hours of what I figured to be boredom. I have been a few times before to other productions when I was younger and less appreciative, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. Being a music lover of all types, I knew I could at least look forward to that aspect of the show.
After about 20 minutes, I was enthralled just as much as my two daughters were. The music WAS fantastic, but the show was great too. The set was remarkable and the dancers were on point. You can see the effort and time put in.
Unfortunately, one of my daughters became ill and we were forced to leave shortly after intermission. Remembering back on my past experiences with this ballet, I do know that because we left, we missed the best parts of the performance. We were not able to exchange our tickets because it was the last performance we were attending, so I am already looking forward to next year.
Needless to say, I was not ashamed of telling my coworkers about attending a ballet the day after... even though it still may not have been so well received. Great production, worth it.

The performance was good. Costumes & stage backdrops were outstanding. People were allowed to enter after the performance started. That was distubing. People were taking pictures & cell phones were being used. That was very distracting. Patrons were not respectful of others.

Seeing The Nutcracker has always been a Christmas tradition for me. I'm thrilled that I can now share this tradition with my own children. Having the Memphis Symphony Orchestra back this year made it even better! Memphis Ballet did an amazing job as we as the symphony. Can't wait for next year!!!

I have always wanted to see The Nutcracker, so this year my husband took me to the Orpheum as part of my Christmas. It was absolutely mesmerizing!!! We were blessed to be on the front row by the orchestra (which was also amazing) and was able to take it ALL in. I felt like a child again! The dancers were breathtaking in their dance and the costumes were gorgeous! I would like to thank each and everyone who had a part in this production for the memory that I will cherish forever. I truly recommend anyone to go and see this ballet; even if you don't think you would like a ballet because my husband enjoyed every moment.

The sets, costumes, and performers of the Nutcracker Suite in Memphis far exceeded my expectations. I was lost in giddy childhood enthusiasm as I remembered all the years my Mother took me to see our local production. The sets themselves were beautiful and wonderfully composed, but to put them inside the gem of the Orpheum truly made the experience one I will never forget. I would full heartedly recommend this production.
