Featured Review

Mat put on an absolutely incredible show. The crowd in Detroit was really in to it, and just every song was simply amazing. I would definitely pay double the face value to see him again, hes fun, honest, and has his heart in the right place and truly loves performing. I wish there were more musicians like Mat, but I guess that is what makes him so special. Thank you and God bless.

Emily Hearn, while an amazing beautiful singer was a horrible start to this concert. Her sleepy songs were better suited for an am coffee shop, not the rocking Mat Kearner concert we so eagerly awaited. It seemed like she would never stop playing her songs, which sounded exactly the same.

By the time she finished, to our dismay, Mat Kearney's band was no were near ready. It took them 45 minutes of stage checking and walking around. It was ridiculous because Emily played acoustic, so why was the equipment not set up?

Anyway, by the time Mat played....feet were tired as we stood ad waited soooo long.....He was great...but I would not do that again if it were run the same way. Bummer......

This show was crazy crazy good. Mat sounds even better live than he does not live. He is a great artist. He came into the crowd like he always does and the show was beyond epic. I will see him every chance I get.

I have seen Mat a few times. This was the first time as headliner. He brought SO much energy to the show. Venue was great. I like GA tix. I never sit down for a concert anyway. Lots of fun people around me. AWESOME,AWESOME, AWESOME! Will definitely see Mat again. Will definitely go back to venue.

I like Mat Kearney's music, but the concert at the Iowa Memorial Union Ballroom was painful to listen to. It was over amplified to the extent that it was totally unenjoyable. I don't know if this was due to the acoustics of the ballroom or the amplification. It would have been nice if this concert had been performed unplugged.

There as way too long a wait between the end of the opening act and the main act. At least a half hour of dead-time. The sound checks could have all been done earlier rather than between acts.

Location:Unique live music!!! I LOVE IT!!!

I not only say Mat earlier in the year at a show downtown LA, but also followed him the Anaheim House of Blues and the later that week, ended up at another venue about an hour up north!!! He is an amazing musician and I wouldsee hime again and again. There is so much talent in this band and I can't wait to see hime again in concert. My main reson, aside from me enjoying his music, a now best friend of mine lost her mother on Christmas Eve last year and I was a part of her hospital care. The song "ABC....You cancount on me" from the new album connected us & God has now blessed me with a new best friend! I thank you Mat & he rest of your band for pulling her through one of the toughest times in her life. '

Amazing evening with Mat Kearney - It was great to see Mat and his band and listen to their music without sharing the stage with other artists. Mat needs to tour on an accoustic level to the more intimate scenes where his true fans are.

Thank you for a true KEARNEY concert, from the story behind the song <Rochester> to the fun filled Feliz Navidad rendition by the drummer from indianapolis.....thank you so very much!

I thought the KPRI Christmas concert was great fun. The musicians had amazing energy. The only thing I did not like was that so many people walked around the entire time the show was going on. People where changing seats and It felt a little like a high school auditorium.
I did enjoy the music .

Mat Kearney is not only an amazing entertainer, storyteller, songwriter, he can sing and play guitar! Wow, what an incredible show. Loved the Balboa Theater as a venue, the setting was intimate. ZZ Ward got the crowd warmed up with her soulful voice and rockin band, followed by Allen Stone and his undeniable energy and bluesy, rock. Matt was the cherry on top, involving the crowd and producing an amazing performance. I'd see 'em again.

ZZ Ward was a treat that I didn't expect. While her videos on YouTube are beautifully produced, I wasn't too impressed with the music. Watching her live was a totally different experience. Her funky, playful, and sexy vibe really changed my perspective of her as an artist. Her small band had an authentic urban look but brought sounds of funk, soul and r&b that could get anyone preaching about the performance. I will definitely seek out her shows again.

Mat Kearney is an amazing artist and the primary reason why I bought the tickets. His crowd interaction was what anyone would expect from a male singer songwriter (funny, informative and he tossed in a couple of city local attractions into his songs). Mat's songs are great. He played all of the songs that I was hoping for. Downside: the sound quality was absolutely terrible compared to other acts that preceded his performance. There was so much bass overdrive that I didn't hear the words of any songs he played which had a steady bass drum or guitar line. My friend and I almost left 3 times during his set. Absolutely awful. I hope that he gets that fixed before his next visit to San Diego. I can't say that I'll be buying tickets for certain, but I might try again simply because I am such a fan of his.

On to the best performance of the night: Allen Stone. I found out about this show in a weird way. I had been on Taylor Guitar's website searching artists that use their guitars (I jus starting playing a Taylor this summer) and found a video of Allen Stone playing in the Backyard venue. It was such an amazing performance that I instantly went to YouTube and google to find more performances by Allen. I subsequently bought (2) of his albums and (3) singles of his on iTunes. My family and I had a long road trip that next weekend and we all enjoyed listening to his music. Funk, R&B and AMAZING VOCALS! His show was great. While he was not the headliner, he was by-far the best act. High energy, he did a good job of getting the audience to participate in the show (even for the people that had no clue about his music or lyrics), and his sound quality was so good that we sometimes joked about it being lip-sync'd. A definite "must see" act.

From the moment Matt came on the stage, the crowd was singing along. He had so much energy that filled the room. The crowd was rocking and everyone was so happy. It was truly a memorable experience. His performance was outstanding.

Loved the concert. Mat Kearney was so nice and grateful. He told us that even though he still has shows still left on his tour, he didn't care as much for those places because the Bluebird made his night.

Love him. I hope he comes back again.

This is the second time I have been to the Bluebird. Both times I saw Mat Kearney. Both times he was terrific. It gets super, super hot in there since the people are packed in elbow to elbow. And unfortunately, this time I was stuck under dripping water. It was either airconditioner condensation or a leak in the roof (since it was raining). So that detracted. Good thing I am tall, because otherwise I would not been able to see anything. If you go see a show at the Bluebird, be sure to get there right when the doors open so you can get a spot kind of close so you can see (and hopefully not under a drip).
